Work With Us
A theatre production company working in London and the surrounding areas, Blackshaw champions new writing and adaptations, but above all, strives to produce quality theatre which inspires an audience. Alongside their main productions, Blackshaw runs regular new writing nights, from which their annual Showcase Award was born.
Blackshaw’s talented members and associates form an extensive network of writers, directors, actors, designers and technicians; all of whom see the value in embracing a wide range of disciplines, sharing knowledge, and supporting fellow practitioners to create great work.
Founded in 2010, Blackshaw’s productions include new works; Staying Alive (Pleasance Theatre 10-29 Nov 2015) by Kat Roberts, Audience with the Ghost Finder (May & Oct 2013 – Selkirk Upstairs & Etcetera Theatre) by M. J. Starling and Character by Florence Vincent (May 2014 & March 2015 – Selkirk Upstairs & Tristan Bates Theatre); as well as adaptations of Gormenghast: Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake (Apr 2012 – The Actors’ Church, Covent Garden) and Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol (May 2014, May 2015 & July 2015 – Selkirk Upstairs, Battersea Library & The British Home).
Front of House/Production Assistants - volunteers
Looking for some hands-on experience in the arts? Then why not get involved as a volunteer? We’re always on the lookout for helpers on productions or events. Just send us your CV via email with ‘volunteer’ in the subject line, and a bit about why you’re interested in working with us.
We have an open casting policy, and advertise all casting opportunities via Casting Call Pro (CCP). For our main productions, we audition a shortlist of applicants. For our New Writing Nights, there are no auditions - we select actors based on their CCP profile/cover letter and suitability for the roles we have available (these differ from event to event, and are only known 2/3 weeks before the New Writing Night, when we make selections from our writing submissions).
To be sure of hearing about casting calls, sign up to our mailing list.
Please note we do not accept unsolicited head shots or CVs.
We are always on the lookout for Directors to work with us on our New Writing Nights. If you’re interested, just send us your CV via email with ‘Director’ in the subject line, and a bit about why you’re interested in working with us.
All main production directing opportunities are advertised via our mailing list to make sure you hear about them.
All main production design opportunities are advertised via our mailing list to make sure you hear about them.
